Payout Proof

Screenshot- or transaction-verified records of payouts traders have received — the informal trust signal traders use to vet firms.

Definition

Payout proof is trader shorthand for verifiable evidence that a firm is actually paying out traders. The standard forms are screenshots of wire confirmations, crypto transaction hashes with blockchain links, bank statement excerpts with account details redacted, and video captures of the payout confirmation screen inside the firm's dashboard. Traders share payout proof on Reddit (r/propfirm), Discord, and Twitter as a way to vet firms before committing fees. Firms themselves often aggregate traders' payout proof into 'wall of fame' pages — but independent third-party proof is more trusted.

Example

A trader on FTMO requests a $4,200 payout, screenshots the confirmed withdrawal in the dashboard, and posts a screenshot of the matching Wise transfer into their personal account (with the recipient info blurred). The post hits r/propfirm with the title 'First FTMO payout, 2 business days.' Other traders can verify by checking FTMO's own wall-of-fame and by looking for consistent reports from unrelated accounts.

Why It Matters

Payout proof is the most reliable signal of firm health in the prop space because regulation and audited financials do not exist. A firm with recent, independent, third-party payout proof is paying; a firm where recent proof has dried up is at risk, regardless of what it says publicly. Traders evaluating new firms should search 'firm name payout proof' on Reddit within the last 30 days before buying a challenge, and look for proof from accounts with history rather than brand-new accounts (which can be firm-created).
